Let's Read!
Hey Guys!
Let's get straight to it! At both the OneWay Fall retreat and DYC many of you expressed your desire to read the bible regularly, but also expressed that you don't really know the first place to start. Some of you shared that you prefer to read with other people, and/or that you'd like someone to keep you accountable. So here we are! Hopefully this blog will help tackle some of those obstacles, and we can work through this together!
Here's how this will work - we'll tackle one book at a time, and we'll read one chapter each day. We'll commit on a book by book basis - so after each book we read, I'll see who is down to commit for the next book. If you decide to commit to reading a book with the group, there will be a few ground rules to make it worth while for all who are involved. The first will be commitment to participating - this will only be beneficial to you and the group if you actually read the chapters and participate in commenting on the blog. If you commit to reading whichever book we're reading at the time I'd like you to take the time to post your thoughts on the reading at least once each week while we're reading that book, saying something that you've observed or learned from one of the 7 chapters that you've read/are reading that week. You can also post any questions that you might have, or discuss anything within the reading that you found confusing. You can post anywhere between day 1 (Wednesday) to day 7 (Tuesday) but to actively be a part of the "Read with OneWay" group you'll be expected to post at least once during the week. It would be ideal for you to post early in the week to get the discussion going, and to check back often to see what other people are learning from their reading. This way we could potentially engage in some great conversations and really learn from/with one another! After you are through with your commitment to one book, you are free to decide whether or not you'd like to commit to reading the next book with the group. Sound good? Ultimately this will go as deep as you take it, so let's take it to the next level!
Guys, I'm so excited to read the bible and grow with you! I have no doubt that we will grow exponentially in our faith by committing to read God's word together!
